A guide for parents
glint.skin is a free card game that runs in a web browser. Players turn their own pictures into holo trading cards, open a free pack each day, solve two daily puzzles and battle friends’ cards through links.
Who it’s for
glint.skin is made for teens (13 to 17) and older, and everything in it can be played at any age. A few things are only for 13 and over, and the game asks for a birth month and year before any of them (see below). There’s nothing to download and no account is needed to play.
No chat
There’s no chat and there are no messages between players. Other players only ever see a player’s Clash name, their best card’s name and stats on the leaderboards, and whatever a Clash link carries when the player sends one to a friend.
Pictures stay on the device
- Cards are made on the player’s own device, and their pictures stay there, unless the player turns on cloud save (13 and over), which keeps them in a private account.
- The leaderboards never show anyone’s pictures.
- A Clash link carries a tiny 20×15 pixel version of the card’s picture, and only goes where the player sends it. The game says so where the link is made.
- The Terms ask players to use only pictures they’re allowed to use, and no photos of other people without their OK.
The age question
glint.skin doesn’t ask anyone’s age on a first visit. It asks for a birth month and year only when it matters: before signing in to cloud save, before buying anything with money, and before a player picks their first Clash name. The answer stays in that browser and is never sent anywhere.
Under 13, everything can still be played, but:
- there’s no cloud save and no buying with money;
- instead of typing a Clash name, the player picks a made-up one (a word, an animal and two digits);
- on the leaderboards, their cards show by their titles rather than the names they typed;
- a card made from a Roblox avatar is called “My avatar”, and the username isn’t remembered.
If a child typed the wrong year, those screens have “Typed it wrong? Ask a parent or guardian”: a grown-up enters the year they were born (it isn’t kept), and the question is asked again.
Names, leaderboards and reports
- Names from other players go through a word filter, however they’re spelled, and a name that fails shows as “Player”. Nothing a player has typed is shown to others until their age is known.
- Settings → Show me on the leaderboards turns a player’s name and cards off the boards.
- Any name, card or Clash challenge can be reported in two taps, with one-tap reasons (rude or hateful, bullying or threats, sexual, scam or spam, pretending to be someone). It’s hidden for that player at once, and the report is checked. When several players report the same card, its names are hidden for everyone until it’s checked.
- Any player can be hidden or blocked in that browser. They aren’t told.
- While glint.skin is new, Top Cards includes computer players so the board is never empty. They’re always marked BOT, and there are no prizes.
Money
- glint.skin is free to play: the daily pack, the puzzles, Clash and the daily gift cost nothing.
- Buying with money is always optional, and only for 13 and over. The Terms ask anyone under 18 to check with a parent or guardian first.
- Nothing random is for sale: shards never buy packs, and a card bought with money has its rarity and stats shown before paying.
- Prices show in the player’s own currency, with tax, before anything is paid, and payment happens on Stripe’s secure checkout.
- If a child bought something without permission, get in touch and it’ll be looked at.
Ads
There are no ads on glint.skin right now. If they come, they’ll only be ads a player chooses to watch for a reward, never banners, never personalised, and this page will say so.
Data, and deleting it
Progress is kept in the browser. Settings → Save and backup → Start again from scratch clears it. A cloud save account is deleted in Settings → Save and backup → Cloud save, with the progress and pictures in it. The privacy policy lists everything that leaves the device, who helps run glint.skin, how long things are kept and your rights.
